My advice to the 9th

hey 9th grader i am going to talk to about being a 9th grader and it mean to a 9th grader and how much it is important to be a 9th grader and how to show you that everything count in 9th grade. 9th grade count  because it your first  year in high school you made think that it normal in high school but it not because you get to meet new people from other middle school or you may have to see your brother or sister or even cousin but i sending you this letter to all the 9th grader all the world that this is not a joke to be a 9th grader and so like me if i was a 9th grader going to the past and being a 9th grader. I would change everything because i started to do bad stuff in school. i was still thinking i was little kid in middle school i didnt do well in ninth grade t was not doing well i started to get F in all my classes and i hadnt i stay after school to finshing all the work so iwas so scared to fail because 9th grade is a important year because everything count. It count like it start to your g.p.a started like 3.00 g.a.p and i started with a 2.00 g.p.a but i would change that if was a 9th grade again.

Finals!!

Stressing, sleepless nights, tears, and grades are on the line. Yes, FINALS are here. I don't know if all teachers had it plan it, but they are due pretty soon. Having Finals is the worst part of school ending. Sadly, for some we thought it was a chill month.

Jennifer C.

How do you feel about Finals?
I feel like we already had enough testing.

For what classes do you have Finals?
English, Math, and hopefully not Biology.

Do you feel like your going to pass or fail?
Mmm... I think I'ma do good in English and Biology. And who knows about Math.

Hopefully, who ever is doing Finals do good on them. Pass your classes & enjoy this last weeks of school. And make sure celebrate BIG for Summer Vacations for all the pressure teachers dragged you in.

Dear my little freshman self...

STOP FRETTING! I'm going to tell you this now. This move...IS YOUR FIRST (well...technically 2nd after the one in middle school... but you know what I mean!) Trust me, there's going to be tons of boxes in your future. I'm not even kidding! Throw away all that junk you have, and start packing now! Packing is a really long process....

This year is going to be kind of fun. I say 'kind of' because there's going to be this guy who will annoy the bejeezus out of you. Punch him now. It's your only chance. You will lose that chance forever. Also delete HER from your Facebook(YOU KNOW WHO! DON'T QUESTION ME!). You're going to see her again in 3 years, and it's gonna suck.

When it comes to making new friends just talk more, and look for the odd people. In your Drama class there's going to be a girl with a GIR backpack. Talk to her immediately. She is, and forever will be, your greatest Senior friend. She's linked to anime club, and she's going to get you to draw again. She'll make you forgot about that self consciousness you built up in middle school.

Now, let's talk about ART shall we? Your going to need more than ONE sketchbook, at least two. 'At least' since you run out of pages somewhere in the last quarter of the year.

Your not going to regret much about your Freshman year. It's an easy year really (actually not being lazy in drama would help). You're going to go through ALOT. Your next move is going to be you best, but when you move again several months later... well... enjoy your sophomore year. Your going to DREAD your drama class, but you also meet tons of people in that period.

Am I annoying you with this list? Well, when you get into your Junior year you'll understand.

Shoot. If you want you can ignore all I have written. Just keep drawing. Your going to go through a nomadic adventure. Enjoy the time away from Lynwood. It's going to be something of a metamorphosis.

- Your nostalgic future self, Lily.
P.S. Next year your going to have you first Art Class! ART CLASS! Imagine that!
P.P.S Buy a thicker sweater.  Weather in both Canoga Park and Apple Valley are off the charts. Or at least to what you're used to.

Advice to myself

Dear Karen,

Before you start your new life as a ninth grader, i have some tips for you. be sure to not sit with people you don't sit with people you DO NOT KNOW. Start talking to some of your old friends form elementary school. But don't lose contact with your current friends too. When you are in your classes, remember you are in there to learn not to fool around. Make sure to bring money everyday because the lunch lines are going to be really long. But don't worry, most student here in FHS sell chips and snacks and stuff, but they will be disguised as a person who plays a sport. One last thing, don't let anyone bring you down. the only reason they do that, it means you are above them.

Love always,

Karen from the Future <3

We hope you have a quick recovery!

Julio Olivares, a member of Firebaugh's volleyball team, experienced a collapsed lung during his previous game. During gameplay he began to feel weary, and also found it hard to breathe. He was then sent to the hospital that following night.

During the week of CST's Julio was unable to attend school. He had to stay at the hospital till they found a compatible lung transplant. His respiratory system depended on a machine during that time. Although the event seemed traumatizing, many who visited him said he stayed optimistic. When he posted his status on Facebook, he only thanked those who sent him well wishes. He never complained or showed fear of his position.

Luck was on his side, and within the same week they had found him a compatible transplant. He came out of the operation safely, and is attending school again. Although Julio seems to be unaffected, the effect of the transplant will linger. Julio may not be able to play volleyball, or any other sport, due to the transplant. He will also need medication to keep his immune system from attacking the new lung.

As a friend, and as a speaker for those who know him, we all hope he has a quick recovery!

A Last Minute Club: Weightlifting Club

You want to tone those muscles of yours?

Or maybe you want to get started on creating that hot summer body?

Or maybe you already have toned muscles, maybe you just need a place to work out?

Lucky for you there is actually a Weight Lifting Club within this school. Although the club was created late into the school year, it is an official club within Firebaugh High. As mentioned in an earlier in an earlier post, Mr.Kang (a chemistry/physics teacher) started this club with a few other students. Getting into shape is the focus of this group, and their schedule consists of weights and outdoor sports. There is only a month left till summer vacation, so why not get prepared for the beaches?

Weightlifting Club meets in the Weights Room almost everyday after school. The Club is in desperate need for new members! Want more details? You can ask Mr.Kang in his class room 2123.
