FINALS!

Finals are here, nervous anyone?
What's so special about finals? It's like any other test, but teachers try to make it worth like 50% of your grade. That's ridiculous. Come on staff! We're tired! Why give us so much to do at the end of the year? Our brains are empty! All we have in our heads is SUMMER!
Best ideas for finals is to just have a final project. That's much more relaxing.
Finals don't always have to be a huge test. Plus, the test doesn't even cover the whole semester so why is it called a final? It makes no sense. Then, teachers, you have to grade all of them before grades are due. That's stressing yourself out as well. So, staff, make it easy on your students and yourselves and come up with a creative final!

YearBook Lite Coming Soon!!

Guess what is coming soon FHS Seniors?! The Yearbook Lite!

For all the seniors that didn't have a chance to buy a yearbook earlier in the year, the Yearbook staff is offering this compressed and original yearbook.

The original price for this yearbook was $5 but has decided to change it for $2!

The Yearbook Lite will be capturing the seniors most memorable moments this year. It will be 12 pages of pictures including signature spaces for your friends to sign.

Now everyone will get a chance to get their friends sign and leave memories while have a close up on seniors!

The Yearbook Lite will go on sale, Monday June, 4th before school.

Edwin Nolasco

Why did you decide to join the navy?
- I decided to join the navy because i wanted to travel and the benefits were really good such as medical, loans, and of course the ladies.

What job are you planning to get in the military?
- I am planning on being in the aircraft aerospace technology field.

Describe the feeling you got when you joined?
-When I joined the force I had a mixture of pride, and happiness. I felt like it was one of those moments that shape who I am and who I will be.

Who will you miss after being shipped away?
-After leaving I will mainly miss my parents and my little sister.

What is a motto you live by?
-"our greatest glory lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall"




 Nelly Mercado

Why did you decide to join the army?
- I decided to join the army because I liked the military since I was little. I also joined because of the benefits and the chance to travel to places I might never go to, and getting to meet new people from other cultures.

What job are you planning to get in the military?
-I want to get a bachelors degree in science to become a nurse, become an officer, and join the Army Nurse Corps.

Describe the feeling you got when you joined?
-I was very proud of the fact that I will be serving my country as a soldier in the U.S Army.

Who will you miss after being shipped away?
- I will definitely miss my family, Josefina and Joselyn.

What is a motto you live by?
- Don't ever give up, Don't let anyone or anything put you down because at the end you will succeed if you really want it. Army Strong ! Hooah !

Firebaugh VS Concordia

As our boys baseball team takes on Concordia for their second round of CIF play-offs they succeeded on winning the game with a score of 23-1.Our senior Armando Murillo went 5 for 6 with 5 Runs Batted in. He is now at a batting average of .471, making him one of our top hitters. Also our junior, Anthony Rios does damage after having five Runs batted in as well and with a batting average of .667. Our junior Anthony Rios takes the mound he's ready to start the game to do damage. By the sixth inning our starting pitcher already had 9 strikeouts and he retired the mound to our other junior pitcher Anthony Arreola. Anthony finished the game with four strikeouts. And that's how our boys advanced to their next round as they take on Milken on their third round. Gooooooooo Falcons!!

Solar Cup Weekend

On the Weekend of May 18-20th the Solar Cup Club went to Lake Skinner for a boat competitions. This is not the first year that FHS participated in the Solar Cup but we are all sure that it won't be the last! Dr. Busick was the advisor for the club and also when on this camping trip with about 50 students and administrators.

We got a chance to get an interview with David Garibay about the exciting weekend.

What is solar cup about?
" Solar cup is a club that participates in a huge event at Lake Skinner
where many high schools attend from different regions and come to
compete for races, such as endurance, sprints and looks but the boat
has to be powered by the sun."

How was the competition?

" This year was my first and our club spent many hours fixing the boat
but we did not receive an award unfortunately. We were a little heart
broken at the time but the competition was fierce. Every boat was
unique and some were super boats. We were just under powered compare
to all the other boats."

How did you spend the night?

"It was unforgettable. The stars rose up at night and so did the solar
cup members. The best night was the last night because we all knew
that it was the last time we were going to share a moment together, so
we sang all night. The bond between us made me not want to come back
to Lynwood."

What activities did you do?
"Besides the competition, we had lots of fun;we had an epic water-gun
fight that lasted about two hours, we watched two movies at night
under the stars, played soccer until we were tired, we ate smorz as a
team, and probably the best part was the hiking. There was about only
eight seniors who went and the rest were underclassmen but as soon as
we socialized its as if we were in the same grade. We had barely met
but it was as if we had known eachother for years.Out there in the
wild, the main goal was having fun and thats exactly what we did. I
met a lot of people and made new amazing friends. I will always
remember the weekend at Lake Skinner. I recommend joining the team
because it was such a wonderful experience."

Music Festival Hits Firebaugh

          

Marco Antonio Firebaugh's first ever music festival is happening May 31, 2012 at 4:15 after school in Falcon Square. The Falcon Flame has this exclusive interview with the organizer and director of the show Alexis Perez.


What is this music festival, and what is it called?
"Its actually just called the music festival because its just that, a music festival. Basically what we want is to show the musical talents of everyone here at Firebaugh it is also a chance to explore peoples interest."

What kind of music will there be?
"Well we've settled for most likely on Rock and Indie maybe pop. The initial idea was to present all types of music and hopefully we still can but so far its like a little Rock Show."

When will it take place?
"It will take place May 31, 2012 at around 4:15 in Falcon Square and the best part is the show will be free."

 Why Falcon Square?
"We felt the Lecture Hall was to bland. Since summer is coming up we decided to do an outside show to kind of change things up. At first we wanted the parking structure but there were some complications with plugging things in and seating, so we landed on Falcon Square. People can sit down on the grass and there are some benches there too. Everyone will be able to enjoy the show."

Alexis is also asking for more performers that would want to join the show he will be in Ms. Ngyuen's class every Tuesday and Thursday after school. All types of music are welcome from  Rap to even Opera!
